Nano Brow Vs Microblading

What is microblading?

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent eyebrow embroidery that will enhance the look of your eyebrows. A collection of around 10 to 16 fine needles configured into a blade shape will be used alongside a small instrument to deliver pigment into the skin. Once the cuts have manually been made, pigment is left on the skin for a few minutes before being wiped off to reveal your new brows. Every time you microblade, you make tiny little scratches or cuts to the skin.   Making a habit of this can cause your skin to become resistant or can even create scar tissue.  Furthermore, too many sessions too close together will result in a solid look, which is the opposite of what most clients seeking microblading are looking for.

What are nano needle brows?

Also known as nano needling or micropigmentation, nano needle brows are created with one single needle and a permanent makeup device. Similar to a conventional tattoo machine (although nowhere near as intense or painful!), the device is then used to provide controlled movement as it dispenses pigment into the skin.

So, what’s the difference?

Generally speaking, both microblading and nano needling will give a similar end result. That being said, there are a few differences that you’ll want to consider.

You’ll get a more effective result from nano needling as the procedure involves less trauma to the skin. With microblading, the pins used to create the blade shape for microblading are more rigid than the flexible and fine ones used for nano needling. Nano needling also comes with the benefits of offering a more natural and crisp result, with less risks of the pigment being implanted too deep. Basically, see nano needling as microblading but with more precision and accuracy.

Price wise, microblading is the least expensive option and usually available for $100-$200 less than nano needle brows. However, while the results of your microblading procedure can be expected to last between 12 to 18 months, the results of a nano needling can last up far longer – up to three years with touch-up sessions.

Cosmetic Tattoo aftercare?

For maximum results and to avoid any added discomfort, aftercare is very important. I will provide detailed information on how to look after your newly tattooed eyebrows, lips, or eyeliner.

Do not wet the area for the first 3-7 days.

Use the healing balm provided 2-3 times a day for the first 7-10 days with a cotton bud- NOT YOUR FINGERS!

Do not apply any makeup on the treatment area for the first 7-10 days.

No swimming, saunas/jacuzzi, sun beds for the first 7-10 days.

Do not have any other cosmetic treatments such as facials, skin peels, laser ect within the first 4-6 weeks.

Don't pick, peel or scratch the treated area.

Avoid direct sun exposure for the first 14 days.

After 10 days an SPF of 20 or higher should be applied to the area.

Long term - In warmer climates, keep the area covered with a hat and or large sunglasses.

What’s the healing process like?

At first you’re eyebrows, eyeliner or lips with their newly defined shape, fully look and enhanced colour will look FAB-U-LOUS. Then you’ll notice the pigment darken – don’t worry it will settle!

After about 3-5 days, your tattoo will start to flake and peel. DO NOT PICK at the dry skin, keep applying the aftercare balm.

The flaking can last up to ten days and the colour may appear to fade to much lighter than expected. This is normal.

After about two weeks your cosmetic tattoo will look how they’re supposed to look, but it’s important to maintain long-term care.

Keep the area moisturized and out of direct sunlight as much as possible.
